    Applications for Outdoor Heritage Conservation grants due April 28

    SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The is accepting applications through April 28 for large and small grants for projects that conserve unique and vital wildlife habitats, natural areas, forest lands, farmlands, and lands for hunting, fishing, and recreation.

    Applications will be accepted for large grants that are more than $25,000. During this round of funding, $100,000 will be reserved for small grants. The funding board will make grant selections by June 30, according to a release from the W.Va. Dept. of Natural Resources.

    Before completing the application, applicants are reminded to determine if their project qualifies for funding using the eligibility assessment technical assistance manual.

    The West Virginia Outdoor Heritage Conservation Fund protects lands that host West Virginia’s wild and wonderful natural resources.

    Its work is guided by an 11-member board of trustees comprised of representatives from land trusts, ecology, forestry, public health, outdoor recreation, the W.Va. Division of Forestry, and the W.Va. Division of Natural Resources.
